With My “Boos” at the Zoo

This year marks the 10th anniversary of my daughter and me taking part in the Boo at the Zoo event for some Halloween fun. We both love getting dressed up in costumes (always a mom and daughter theme, 🤗) and Quinn loves trick or treating for candy too.

What we love even more is that this is not just a mother daughter tradition but a cousin tradition too! With the busyness of life, we may not see each other as often as we’d like, but this is one outing we all faithfully attend donning costumes, smiles and ready for some quality time with family. I’m grateful to have this time with some of my favorite “boos.” 🥰🤗🎃💀

All the best,

Tanya

Celebrating The Philadelphia Zoo’s 150th Anniversary

Since my daughter was a baby, we’ve had a membership to the Philadelphia Zoo. Over a decade later, she still enjoys her time there and was excited to celebrate their 150th anniversary and get some free treats courtesy of Wawa’s Welcome America along with my mom (her nana).

Interestingly, just about all of the animals, including the lions, tiger and bears, were out, active and ready for their close-ups. It’s as though they were put on notice about this major milestone and were all ready to celebrate too.

This was a great way to start off July and to keep the fun going with our summer break activities.

All the best,

Tanya

Luminature Lights Up the Night While Family Lights Up My Life

Lumuminature Love

For years, my daughter and I have been going to the Philadelphia Zoo’s Luminature event for the holiday season. We both love the lights and everything about the atmosphere. But there’s something that has made this activity even more special for us: going with extended family.

Light Up the Night

My mom (Quinn’s nana), my sister-in-law and nieces, my cousin, her daughter and mom (my aunt), have been joining us too. Since Quinn is an only child, I’m so grateful that she has such a close bond with her cousins and that they got to see each other and enjoy the lights together. This most certainly lights up my life.

We Say “Boo” at the Zoo to the Rain

As the forecast for rain increased as the today approached, I hoped that our set day to go to the Philadelphia Zoo’s Halloween event wouldn’t be a total washout.

This has been a tradition for my ten year old daughter and me since she was one and her cousins since Pre-K and kindergarten age, and we all look forward to it, including the adults.

Thank goodness Quinn and her cousins were given almost two hours of rain free weather to trick or treat, see animals and enjoy each other’s company! 🤗🎃

All the best,

Tanya

My Family Lights Up My Life! Fun at the Philadelphia Zoo’s Luminature

Yesterday, my daughter, mother, sister in-law, nieces and I arrived at the Philadelphia Zoo in the evening ready for some amazing sights. While the animals slumbered, the beautiful lights and decorations lit the night’s sky at their annual Luminature event. There was a huge light-up penguin show, a big flamingo tree, shimmer just about everywhere we turned, a sea display and gorgeous Christmas trees, and we were enamored by it all!

What made this evening extra special was watching my daughter and niece’s faces light up as they walked and even raced to the next light display letting out joyous giggles. I’m so grateful for these moments and am glad Quinn expressed interest in going for a third time.

All the best,

Tanya

With My Boos at the Zoo!

On this absolutely beautiful autumn day there’s no place I’d rather be than with my “boos” at the Philadelphia Zoo. Since my daughter was a toddler, we’ve been getting dressed up and heading to the zoo for some October fun, and for the past five years or so, it’s become an annual cousin outing with my mom (their nana), and we have so much fun together.

Quinn and I both look forward to getting dressed up, and this year was no different. Since we’ve been super heroes in the past, we decided to go as supervillains: Harley Quinn and Joker. I just love our matching costumes and bonding time.

Here’s to many more fun October events to come!

All the best,

Tanya
