One Amazing Girl Plus One Sweet Pup Equals Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day is a phrase some people may utter to a significant other, but for me, especially since my daughter was born, I look forward to displaying love to all of my family and friends, especially my seven year old. This is our puppy’s first Valentine’s Day, and we both were excited to share some extra love with him too. Though being surprised by Quinn with Reeses’s Cups, one of my favorite candies, made me happy, there’s nothing like getting big hug kisses from my daughter and kisses and snuggles from our puppy Zack to put a huge smile on my face. Of course, my husband is my valentine as well, but those two have a special place in my heart. I am grateful for the love I receive from the both of them.

All the best,

Baking is Love, Especially When They’re Cookies From a Sweet Girl!

“I love baking with you, Mommy! Can we do it more often?” my six year old asked. “I don’t see why not,” I told her. I love baking, especially when I get to do it with my daughter. I get to guide her through the process. We get to talk, laugh and just be in each other’s presence. Also, I just feel the love. On Valentine’s Day, she was eager to bake cookies to give to people she loves and did it from start to finish. She even effortlessly used the cookie press after I demonstrated how to use it. I’m so grateful that displaying love is something that’s effortless for the both of us, not just on Valentine’s Day but everyday.

All the best,

It’s All About the Love! Memorable Moments with My Valentine, My Little Girl

“What do you like most about Valentine’s Day, Mommy?” My four and half year old asked me. “I like showing people who I care about how much I love them, especially you!” I said. My daughter then smiled at me and said without hesitation, “That’s what I like the most too! Well, I like getting candy sometimes too!” As this Valentine weekend comes to a close, I just couldn’t let it end without acknowledging how wonderful it feels to experience the love of my daughter. She’s so sweet, kind and caring. After saying good morning, she’ll often ask me how I slept. When I pick her up from preschool, she genuinely wants to know if I had a good day at work.

Even though there are times when I may be exhausted or just need a moment to relax to myself, I never tire of loving my daughter and being a recipient of the unconditional love I receive from her on a daily basis. I am grateful for the many memorable moments we’ve shared and truly do love being loved by her.

All the best,

Tanya

A Happy Valentine’s Day with My Little Girl

“Look at all of the cards and treats I got, Mommy!” my little girl beamed. She came home from preschool so excited to show me everything she got from the Valentine’s day party at her school. Last year, Quinn was just two and still at home with her father and me, so this year was quite a big deal. It was nice to see that big smile on her face and for her to be excited to give cards and gifts to her classmates, teachers and to me as well. I love my daughter year round of course, but it’s nice to show a little more love and to get a little more love on Valentine’s Day.

All the best,

Tanya

My Little Girl! My Valentine!

Every evening, since my daughter was an infant, I say, “Mommy loves you!” as I put her to sleep. As she was just learning how to talk, she would repeat what I said with a smile on her face, “Mommy loves you too!” I would chuckle and say, “No, Quinnie, you say, “I love you too, Mommy.” Now, without prompting and at times when it’s least expected, my two and a half year old will say, “Mommy, I love you so much.” It really melts my heart. Yes, Valentine’s Day for most is about romance, but I could not imagine life without celebrating it with my little girl: my valentine!

I “Heart” Projects with My Sweet Little Girl

Many people focus on how commercialized Valentine’s Day has become or use it to demonstrate the intimate and romantic love they may have for a significant other. While I do make a conscious effort to show love year round, I am grateful to experience the love of my daughter through togetherness and doing special Valentine’s projects together. For this project in particular, we purchased a heart person kit at Target which my two and a half year old selected because she really loved the rainbow hair.

She could not wait to get started. I loved it because the project was a great way for her to follow directions and demonstrate that she knows all of the parts of a face and where they belong. When we finished, she immediately insisted, “We have to show my heart with the crazy rainbow hair and moustache to Daddy! Please, Mommy!” As she went to show it to him, Quinn asked me, “Do you think Daddy will love it?” I responded, “Of course he will!” Her dad smiled and told her that she did such a nice job and that he loved it. She then asked if we could hang it up for everybody to see. I just love doing these projects with my little girl. It’s these sweet moments that I hold near and dear to my heart.

All the best,

Tanya

My “Toddler” Valentine!

2015-02-14 17.21.38

Though I enjoy spreading love year round, I love the concept of Valentine’s Day. Most people focus on the romance of the holiday. While I enjoy this aspect, I take pleasure in doing a little something extra to let those who are close to me know how much I love and appreciate them. My little girl most certainly is one of my special valentines. Though yesterday evening was an outing for her daddy and me, the day time was loads of fun with my 21 month old Quinn.

She already shows how much she loves me in so many different ways. She’s so excited to see me and will give me a big hug and kiss and is even beginning to display signs of empathy and that she cares about my well-being. I look forward to the day when she will utter those words, “I love you mommy!.”

My Baby Love

20140214-190209.jpgThough most people associate Valentine’s Day with romance, I cannot help but think about the love I have for my baby girl Quinn. I love being able to work from home three days a week so that I can look into those big brown eyes and listen to that cute giggle all day.  It truly is amazing how much love I can have for a person I’ve only known for a little over nine months. Observing her and seeing what she loves as she explores the world around her allows me to have a greater appreciation and love for my surroundings and what I am capable of doing. Thanks so much Quinn for for giving me the opportunity to see the world from your perspective. Though it is a lot to process for the both of us, I am loving every minute of it!

All the best,

Tanya
